Shaw Floors to hold Guinness World Records® attempt for largest pie fight

-Record attempt will demonstrate stain-repelling power of Anso® nylon at Dallas retailer event-

Shaw Floors, the world's largest carpet manufacturer and leading flooring provider, will make a GUINESS WORLD RECORDS attempt for the World's Largest Pie Fight on January 7, 2010 during it's upcoming 10th annual retailer market event in Dallas. The pie fight will take place on Shaw's Anso nylon carpet to demonstrate Anso nylon's superior ability to repel stains and to be easily cleaned. The world record attempt will involve 1,200 pies of various flavors including cherry, chocolate and apple, which equates to 3,000 pounds of pie. Following the event, Shaw will clean the pie-covered carpet and display the like-new results on January 8 in the lobby of the Embassy Suites in Grapevine, Texas, the site of Shaw's winter market.

"We're confident that Anso nylon can hold up to the challenge posed by hundreds of people throwing hundreds of pies," said Shaw President Randy Merritt. "Consumers want to know that a food accident won't ruin their carpet, and although this is an extreme example, we feel that the pie fight shows how Anso nylon holds up to everyday life. The carpet's anti-soil properties combined with our R2x® stain-resistance treatment make most common household stains simple to remove."

The current record of 269 participants was set by the television show LIVE! With Regis and Kelly on September 17, 2009. Shaw's goal is to have more than 300 official pie throwers participate in Shaw Floor's world's Largest Pie Fight. The 60-second pie fight will occur at 6 p.m. on January 7, 2010, in a tent adjacent to the Embassy Suites. After the pie fight is completed, Shaw will clean the pie-covered carpet and display the like-new results on January 8 in the lobby of the Embassy Suites.

In connection with the pie fight, Shaw will be making a monetary donation to the Tarant Area Food Bank, a local affiliate of Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic-relief hunger charity. The company's donation will provide 40,000 to 70,000 meals for hungry individuals in 13 Texas counties.
